氣凝膠是由膠體粒子相互聚結構成納米多孔網絡結構，并在孔隙中充滿氣態分散介質的一種高分散固態材料。具有低導熱系數、低密度、低介電常數、低聲阻抗、高孔隙率、高比表面積等特點，在熱學、電學、聲學、力學、光學等領域顯示優異的性能，在航天、航空、集中供熱供冷、石油、天然氣、建筑、交通、冶金、電子、環保等領域有著廣泛巨大的應有前景。

Silica Aerogel is a kind of highly dispersed solid material, in which colloidal particles coalesce into a nanoporous network full of gaseous dispersion medium in the pores. It has such characteristics as low thermal conductivity, low density, low dielectric constant, low acoustic impedance, high porosity, high specific surface area, showing excellent performance in the fields of thermal, electrical, acoustic, mechanical, optical, etc. Furthermore, it has broad application prospects in aerospace, aviation, central heating and cooling, oil, natural gas, construction, transportation, metallurgy, electronics, environmental protection and other fields.

SiQ₂氣凝膠是迄今為止已實現商業化生產的保溫性能更好的材料。SiQ₂氣凝膠材料具有低密度、低導熱系數的特性，能有效抑制熱傳導；其平均孔徑尺寸50nm，低于空氣分子的平均自由程，能有效抑制空氣熱對流傳熱；此外SiQ₂氣凝膠“無窮多”的空隙壁相當于輻射的反射面和折射面，再配合特殊的反射物質可以使熱輻射降至最低。綜上所述，SiQ₂氣凝膠材料能有效抑制熱傳導、熱對流和熱輻射這三個方面的共同作用，幾乎阻斷了熱傳遞的所有途徑，是一種具有巨大應用價值的隔熱材料。

SiQ2 aerogel are by far the bestter insulating materials for commercial production. SiQ2 aerogel material has the characteristics of low density and low thermal conductivity, which can effectively inhibit heat conduction. Its average pore size is 50nm, lower than the mean free path of air molecules, which can effectively inhibit air heat convection. In addition, the infinite void walls of SiQ2 aerogel act as the reflective and refractive surfaces of the radiation, and can minimize the thermal radiation coupled with special reflective material. In summary, SiQ2 aerogel material can effectively inhibit the combined effects of heat conduction, heat convection and heat radiation, almost blocking all the ways of heat transfer, so it is a kind of insulation material with great application value.
